Colombia occupies the northwest corner of South America. The country is compiled of many different microclimates. The political and cultural capital of Bogotá can be considered cold and not what many would expect from a South American city. The Caribbean coast in the north is hot year round, while Cali and Medellin are more mild and temperate. Colombia is also home to many steamy jungles, snow-capped volcanoes, rocky deserts, endless plains, lush valleys, coffee plantations, mountain lakes, deserted beaches.
